Mavic 321 Rims

I've been running this wheelset for the past 3 years on and off, on a variety of different bikes/setup's. Our Mavic 321 rims are built onto a deore front disc hub and an XT rear with an upgraded freehub (extra bling factor!) Mavic have recently re-vamped their range including the 321 which has become known as the 729.....this was a little curious as not very much has changed about this rim. It has lost a bit of its girth and been narrowed a little. To be honest I'm not sure why this is, probably to save a little weight. The extra width of the 321 vs. the 823 is noticeable as high speed stability starts to play a role. However at low speeds the extra weight of the rim makes it noticeably harder to accelerate as quickly. In terms of strength unless you are going to be hucking of mothering cliffs your gonna find these pretty indestuctable. There was a time (pre-tubeless) that everyone on the downhill scene was running these rims, indeed alot of people still do even at international UCI level! If the endorsement of many top world riders isn't enough I'm not sure what is! If your in the market for some bomb-proof, godd value - no thrills wheels then you probably can't go wrong with these!
